Sustainable Wine at Lucia's

Green to the max and quite tasty. (And stop in for Lucia's nightly 9-midnight happy hour, the warm setting makes you forget it's cold outside.)

And the endearing Hennepin Lake Liquors is where I found a "TetraPak " of my own.

The Unexpected for Less Than You Expect

A New Year, a new side of Radar. I'm using this blog to try a new service to my readers - e-tail Retail - The Unexpected for Less Than You Expect. "Jen On The Radar" will allow you to shop here for one-of-a-kind finds, can’t-live-withouts, wants and some needs.

I love the www and all that it has to offer in the sea of commerce - from mega deals, some with free overnight shipping, to completely unique, unexpected products, from Austin to Barcelona. So my findings may be just what you’ve been looking for, or, never thought you could find. Radar will online order, offer gift-wrapping and arrange for pick-up in Mpls.

I'm kicking this off with Gifts for Valentine's that require quick purchasing commitments:

Politics + Photography

If this is your idea of a thrilling combination, then you will be found this Friday, January 16th at the Center for Media Arts, for the opening reception of,  PARTY: Selection, Election and the Body Politic 2008.

Ten photographers share their captured work of riots, myth of power, backstage at the RNC and the recent and never-ending recount.

It's an historical week ahead, make this combo a part of it.

2009, and, we're off...

Events so far on my calendar for the new year:

January 17th - February 14th
Art Shanty on Medicine Lake - this icy adventure pushes the limits of art and environment.

Saturday, January 24th
Bunny Clogs Family Music Show at The Cedar - Local music man Adam Leavy's dip into a children's music project. It's sure to be an urban, creative good time.

Sundays, January 18th and 25th, and Sunday, February 8th
Master Works, The MOBA Plays at Bryant Lake Bowl Theater - Yes, there's a museum called The Museum of Bad Art, and local, nationally recognized playwrights and directors create plays based on 6 of these bad pieces. In this case bad=good to me.

Eating more often at The Strip Club in St Paul - the food and service are equal parts superb and stellar.

Strolling through every weekend or so at Soo Visual Arts Center - a dreamy space filled with an abundance of pure creative objects.

Saturday, February 21 - June 21
Tom Arndt's Minnesota at The MIA - Stunning black and white photos from our everyday life in MN from the 70s to today.

Shopping often at either location while taking in the lavish service and phenomenal finds at StyledLife. Retail at it's best.

May
Chan Poling's, "Venus, A Musical" - a sure-to-be hit for another local music talent who's goal is to bring Venus to Broadway after this local run at The Ritz.

Target Free Thursday Nights or Free First Saturdays at The Walker

What do you have planned?
